Weve all been down that road of loving someone so much that you cant imagine your relationship with them ending. That is a risk we all take when we love some. It makes life interesting, and brings us, eventually, to the ones we are meant to be with. There is no mistaking that break ups hurt. The important thing is to deal with them appropriately.

The first thing you need to do is allow your self the ability to mourn. It isnt the same thing as a death of a loved one, but you are mourning the death of the relationship. Let it go, be sad, be angry, and then begin to accept it. You need to eventually work towards accepting it, even if you never forgive them. You need to accept that it is over.

Dont blame yourself, or place all of the blame on them. A relationship takes two people to start it. It also takes two people to cause it to end. Even if you werent the one to say the final words, there was something that the two of you shared that starting the relationship towards the end. It is okay to be angry. They broke your heart, but if you want future relationships to be better, then you need to look at what you may have done too.

No matter what you feel like doing you need to avoid seeing your ex. That can only make matters worse. You need to cut ties with his friends, and surround yourself with yours. Avoid the places your ex frequents, and dont give into the temptation of calling them. The relationship is over, perhaps in a few years you two could work on being friends, but seeing your ex potentially happy with someone else isnt going to help you right now.

The most important thing to do after a break up is to remember that there are more people out there for you. The prospects didnt dry up, and you will find someone else. There is no reason to jump right back into the dating game, but after you have gone through the mourning process, jump in!
